At times, for metal utilization reasons, the part is stamped from the strip in manner that requires the magnetic lines of force to be conducted perpendicular to the rolling direction (lengthwise). Remember that the rolling direction is the 100 crystal plane of the ferrite grain and the most easily magnetized, capable of carrying the most lines of force. Metal is always tested in this orientation so that the part, as it is stamped, will give the expected performance.
