Brazing

Like other ferrous materials, CMI products can be easily brazed. A paste should be chosen which is compatible with the annealing conditions, and the brazer should recognize that the ultra-low carbon iron’s affinity for copper or other brazing materials at brazing temperatures, making them “disappear” at too high a temperature. Brazing can be combined with the final anneal by controlling the temperature at 850 C and controlling the cooling rate at 50 C per hour down to 600 C, and at any rate thereafter.
